Wet Blasting Machine

Wet blasting Machine is used in a similar style to dry, but using water in addition to air and grit. We adhere to the same dry blasting requirements. Wet blasting might result in two issues. The first is that the procedure wets the substrate; the second is that a wet surface oxidizes before drying.

Introduction of Wet Blasting Machine

Wet blasting machine, the process of introducing water to a mixture of pressurized air & abrasive, is now a mainstream process in the surface preparation field. While it has been referred to by additional names, including dustless blasting machine, moisture blasting, slurry blasting & vapor blasting, wet blasting utilizes a mixture of water & abrasive media to assemble a surface profile before coating application making it different from ultra-high-pressure (UHP) water jetting, which does not contain abrasive & does not create a surface profile. A wet abrasive blasting machine is suitable for combustible situations where other spark-producing surface preparation procedures are not permitted. This method is more efficient than water blasting & suitable for places where dry blasting is not permitted. It creates a measured surface profile. Wet abrasive blasting is far more effective than power tool cleaning.

Wet blasting employs compressed air to propel water and abrasive media from a nozzle, resulting in an extremely effective & ecologically friendly 'closed-loop' surface finishing, cleaning, & conditioning procedure.

Wet Blasting Process

In the wet blasting process, a water-abrasive mixture is used. The water washes contaminants like grease & oil away. In the dry blasting process, these contaminants could cause coagulation of the abrasive and lead to machine failure. Therefore, a wet blasting machine is often employed for refurbishing parts such as motor & compressor parts. As with the dry sand blasting cabinets, similar workpiece handling options can be integrated.

The method is compatible with all typical blasting media, including aluminum oxide, glass beads, silicon carbide, ceramic shot, stainless steel shot, & plastic media. Media sizes can range from very coarse to ultra-fine, with a typical range of 16-1200 mesh.

Bio-degradable degreasing agents can be added & the water can be heated on some models, further extending the capability & operator comfort of the process & enabling parts to be degreased & cleaned in a single operation. Corrosion inhibitors can be utilized to protect the surface after cleaning. As the original creators of the wet blasting process, we recognize that your surface finishing results will suffer if, for example, you are unable to manage blast pressure or cannot see what you are doing due to a lack of window wash.

Wet Blasting Machine Working

Wet blasting is a solvent-free, dust-free cleaning procedure that uses an operator-safe combination of water & media, often a glass bead & aluminum oxide mixture. This is directed to the die using a sophisticated blast nozzle. The process's working pressure is highly regulated, & effluent from the machine is routed via a filtering system, which separates solid waste for safe disposal while also allowing the water to be recycled.

Cleaning and polishing dies is a necessary process in all extrusion factories. The newest extrusion die-cleaning technique, which is based on the tried-and-true wet blast method, cleans faster, more effectively, and more consistently than traditional systems. Experience from existing installations has demonstrated that wet blasting lowers the requirement for final hand polishing, saving significant time & labor. Wet blasting provides a higher surface finish for die cleaning & polishing while also significantly reducing manufacturing time.

Shot Blaster range of wet sand blasting machine delivers advanced features to assure efficient operation and maximum operator comfort. Constructed in stainless steel, the cabinets deliver evolved features to assure maximum cleaning effect with good visibility & ease of use.

Wet sand blasting machine units can be categorized into four major types. Two of these involve air abrasive blasting with water addition. The others are pressurized water blasting with & without abrasives. The basic principles & variations of these types of wet blasting will be reviewed briefly. The conference will also examine the most significant features & elements of the different kinds of systems investigated.

Types of Wet Blasting Machine Units

  • Air Abrasive Wet Blasting
  • Air/Water/Abrasive Slurry Blasting
  • Pressurized Water Abrasive Blasting
  • Ultra High-Pressure Water Jetting

Air Abrasive Wet Blasting Machine

The air abrasive wet blasting units vary with respect to the method & location of water addition, the kind of control system, the device for adding & monitoring inhibitor, & the design of the nozzle & the overall system. Water can be added downstream of the nozzle, only before the sand enters the wet blasting nozzle, & at the origin of the abrasive (air/water/abrasive slurry blasting). One of the earliest methods was the water envelopment process & water curtain method, which projects a cone of water around the stream of air & abrasive as it leaves the nozzle. A simple water ring adaptor fits almost the blasting hose nozzle. This technique is reported to decrease airborne dust by about 50 percent to 75 percent. It has a tiniest consequence on the cleaning rate because the water does not mix with the abrasive. It does make the unit slightly more cumbersome & could affect the cleaning rate in a certain manner.

In the second type of air abrasive wet blasting, the water is counted to the abrasive just before it reaches the nozzle. In one version, a nozzle adaptor is mounted between the nozzle holder and nozzle. Pressurized water from an air-operated pump is controlled with a needle valve. The water pressure is normally on the order of 300 psi to 800 psi. For many of these units, the water & sand can be operated independently. Thus, for example, by closing the needle valve, one can dry sandblast in areas where wet blasting may not be needed. Also, by removing the nozzle handle, one can utilize low-pressure water to wash off the sand from the surface.

Air Water/ abrasive Slurry Blasting

Another technique is the addition of water to the abrasive stream at the control unit upstream of the nozzle. In these systems, the mixture of air, water, & sand is propelled via the sand blasting hose to the nozzle without any additional coupling at the nozzle. In several of these units the air, water, & sand can be independently controlled by the operator, either by micro switches at his control or remotely, by another operator with the blaster. As with the previous systems, these units permit the operator to rinse the wet sand from the externals with pure water, often containing an inhibitor. Certain units can be employed to feather back paint by decreasing the air pressure, resulting in a less erosive slurry stream. Because the sand is discreetly mixed with the water, these units are enormously effective in decreasing the amount of dust.

High Pressure Wet BIasting Machine

High pressure water blasting is a technique that produces a high velocity stream of water by passing a flow of pressurized water through a specially designed small orifice nozzle. This jet has some erosive force & has been employed for extracting paints & corrosion products from structural steel. The principal focus of this evaluation is on water blasting machine with abrasive media instead than on pure water blasting. However, for comparison purposes, several of the high-pressure units were employed without abrasives. In addition, one unit was followed certain was designed to be operated without sand because of the enormously elevated pressures attained.

High pressure wet sand blasting machine without sand has not shown the capability of removing tight rust or intact millscale from steel except at exceedingly slow rates or at ultra-high pressures (> 30,000 psi). In addition, it cannot produce a profile (surface roughening) of the steel itself. In order to introduce additional erosive force into water blasting, abrasives must be incorporated into the water jet.

Pressurized Water Abrasive Blasting Machine

High pressure units utilize water pressures from 6,000 psi to 20,000 psi. The flow rates are normally 5 gallons to 15 gallons of water per minute. These units require a different type of nozzle than those used for straight high-pressure water jetting. The sand blasting nozzle orifice must be large enough (typically 318 in.) to permit the abrasive to pass through.

Also observed were several units which operated at substantially lower pressures and thrust rates than those given above. Water blasters with pressures of 3,000 psi to 4,000 psi would be expected to provide much greater ease of handling & safety than the high-pressure units. A few of these were simply high-pressure units operated at reduced pressures. Others were designed for use at lower pressures.
